We are delighted to welcome Britt Arnett of The Argus Image to our SnapKnot family! Although Britt is primarily a Los Angeles wedding photographer, she is happy to be considered for all Orange County, Santa Barbara, and Ventura County weddings as well! Britt considers her style to be creative fine-art wedding photography with an editorial flair.
The Argus Image was born a little over a year ago, and Britt considers herself very fortunate at how it has blossomed. The feeling of accomplishment she gets when her couples happily receive their photos is one of the main reasons she loves shooting weddings. It means a lot to Britt to get to be a part of something as important as telling the story of one of the most important days in a person’s life.
“My company, The Argus Image, exists to spread inspiration through creative and conceptual imagery. In essence, The Argus Image exists to create art.”
Interested to learn where did Britt’s photography passion come from? A school trip to Guadalajara, Mexico. She had an old film camera that her father had given her and there was one particular moment that created her love of photography. A young girl was on the street playing a small instrument with a KFC cup to collect change, and Britt laid down in front of the her to snap a photo. The girl didn’t stop playing; rather, she just looked at Britt. “The look in her eyes,” Britt says, “told their own story.”
That was it for our Ventura County wedding photographer, who later learned the ropes assisting other talented photographers. Her experiences with editorial and studio shoots helped improve Britt’s technique, and after graduating college and shooting her friend’s wedding, she was sold.
Britt considers herself blessed to have been mentored by and worked beside many prestigious photographers in her years. Rudy Astudillo and Robert Zuckerman are the two photographers who have influenced her the most, and who have guided her throughout her career. Where photographic icons are concerned, Britt feels that there are too many to list. However, some of her favorites would include Guy Bourdin, Richard Avedon, and Henri Cartier-Bression.
Although weddings take precedence in Britt’s world, she does also shoot other types of photography.
“I strongly believe that having worked in so many different aspects of photography, I now have an eye for the creative. Which is important when trying to get that one picture that makes you say ‘wow’.”
