Today we’d like you to meet Maria Longhi, a wedding photographer based in Orange County, California.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Maria Longhi and I  specialize in wedding and boudoir photography in Southern California.

Why did you choose to become a photographer?
I have always loved fashion, make up and hair styling, art, photography, romantic adventurous movies and love songs… The engaged. The bride making herself look more beautiful then she already is for her groom. Special images shared between them. A kiss, a touch, a look, a tear, a smile. Love is why I became a wedding photographer.

How long have you been a photographer?
I have been a wedding photographer for 3 years.

How would you classify your style of photography?
My style of photography is eclectic. I base my style personality of the bride and groom, the venue, decor, and situation.

Who or what are some of your influences on either a personal or professional level?
My son, who is 12 years old and is autistic. My husband. Number 1 the Lord God. My mom and dad and my 2 dogs Fanta, my maltipoo and Twinki, my yorkie terrier. I receive a lot of love from Heavenly Father and my family. They are all so great. I am lucky.

On a professional level movies, magazines, songs, vintage and classic movies all the way back from silent film till today.

I love all 3 Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. I get so much out of the movie. I must say J. R. R. Tolkien was an amazing writer.

Amazing photographers of photojournalism Harry Benson is one of my favorites. There are also fashion photographers that I love. So many.

Do you have any good wedding stories?
As far as good wedding stories I have so many. Each wedding is so unique. They have been all so great.

What’s your preferred type of camera equipment?
I am a digital wedding photographer. I am a Canon shooter. I use all glass lenses. All pro equipment.

What would you recommend for a couple just starting their search for a wedding photographer?
I recommend that they look at the images, and choose a couple within budget. Personally I would save up for the photographer of choice. I did not do that on my wedding day and my images are ok but not great. I had no contact with my photographer till the wedding day. The owner of the studio never showed me the photographer’s work, and I did not ask. I trusted this photographer who came highly recommended.

So, brides and grooms: interview your photographer. What might be a good fit for one bride and groom might not be a good fit for you.
