New York City is such a wonderful place for people to fall in love and in a city with so many opportunities, it is a great place to be. People come from all over to start a new life in the area and there are also plenty of people who grew up there and still call it home today. For Lia and Herminio, this happened to be where they call home and also the place where their love story began. Meeting one another at a young age, you could say it was meant to be. Their friendship eventually turned into romance, and it’s history from there. So after falling in love in New York, they chose to have a Long Island wedding.
Here are few words from Lia and Hermino describing this wonderful love story, “We started our relationship in 2000, when we spent our summer like most teens in NYC do: hanging out at the neighborhood park. There was a group of us, we spent the days in the park. We formed a friendship that summer that we continued during the school year, on the phone and then on weekend dates. But our history dates back even before that. See, our moms were best friends growing up. They were in the same class from Kindergarten until the 8th grade, They went on to high school together too. Eventually, time separated them, but they always remained friends at heart. While this was always our main connection, the fact is that we both grew up in Chelsea, in Manhattan in NYC. Our parents grew up in Chelsea. My grandparents grew up in Chelsea. We fell in love in Chelsea, as did our parents and even my grandparents. Forever, that neighborhood will be how we met.”
Now let’s check out all the special moments Kari with Cottonwood Studios was able to capture on these couple’s wedding day!
When asked, what is your favorite memory of the day, this is what the bride had to say:
“So many favorite memories. I loved every bit of getting ready with my girls. I was so relaxed and at such peace. The feeling in the pit of my stomach as the limo reached our venue and I could see some of our guests gathered outside. And the ultimate moment, the surreal moment when I got to the aisle and locked eyes with my groom and his knees buckled. It was a reaction I never knew I always wanted. It was sincere and pure. This was finally our moment.”
Here is some advice from the bride to those planning now.
“Communicate with each other. Talk about everything. Make every decision together. If you agree you are golden! If you don’t, compromise! Do not involve too many people in your decision making because in the end it is just you two in this life together. And have fun! This is a party to celebrate your union and you future!”
