We recently asked Melissa of The Loveliest Day to answer a few questions for us. If you don’t know about her blog, The Loveliest Day, be sure to visit. Melissa has a great mix of inspiration and wedding style, from engagement photos to decorations and more.
Who are you / What’s your story?
I’m Melissa. A California native, blissful newlywed, lover of whimsy, tattoo enthusiast, and admirer of beautiful things both old and new. Oh, and I’m absolutely crazy for weddings!

Why did you start The Loveliest Day?
After getting married, I couldn’t resist the urge to continue indulging in all things wedding. Since I was done planning my own wedding, I needed an outlet for all the inspiration I found and ideas I came up with. The result is my blog, The Loveliest Day.

What can brides find at The Loveliest Day?
From its inception, I knew I wanted The Loveliest Day to be more than just a wedding blog. I wanted to incorporate great finds from the wedding world, but also from the worlds of fashion, art, home décor, crafting, and anything else that struck my fancy. As my tagline says, The Loveliest Day offers everything delicious, dreamy, and delightful for your wedding AND life!
What makes you different from other wedding blogs/sites?
On The Loveliest Day I try to bridge the gap between offbeat brides and traditional brides. While planning my own wedding, I didn’t find a lot of blogs that I felt spoke to me. I’m not offbeat or alternative, but I am a tattooed lady who loves heavy metal. I’m not totally traditional, but I am a girly girl who adores many traditional elements. I fall somewhere in between, as I’m sure many others do. I feel like there should be a place for every bride or groom out there, and I wanted to create a blog that feels like home for others like me.

Do you have any advice for brides planning their weddings?
Make sure your wedding reflects your style. When blogging about weddings, it’s important to stay on top of trends. When it comes to your own wedding though, make sure you don’t get too wrapped up in what the “it” thing is, or what is considered to be so last year. Do what YOU want. Are people telling you that paper flowers and vintage typewriters are overdone, but you really want to incorporate them into your wedding? Do it! Who cares what other people say? Years down the line you won’t remember what other people did or didn’t do. You’ll remember your own wedding, and how much you loved it!
Why should brides avail themselves of online resources like The Loveliest Day?
There is nowhere else where someone can find such a wealth of information at his or her fingertips. Literally almost anything you can think of can be found on the Internet with a little typing and the click of a mouse. If you have a question or problem you can’t find an answer for, make sure you ask! Unlike reading a magazine or book, blogs are interactive communities with tons of talented people willing and able to help you out. I love answering reader questions, and offering advice when I can.

Do you have regular categories or features on the blog or is it just as subjects come up?
My only categories are things I love, things I die for, and OMG this thing is amazing. No, but really I don’t have specific weekly categories or features on The Loveliest Day. I try to keep pretty consistent with the style of things I post so readers know what to expect, but as for the specific content and categories, I like to mix it up!
