Wedding rings and fabulous signage are just a few of the details that give weddings their lovely, yet “girly” rep. But although she may be the Belle of the Ball, there is more to the event than it’s beautiful bride and her carefully designed decor. Like what? you ask. (We agree, half the fun of weddings are their creative themes and gorgeous details.) Like the man she is about to marry, though, that’s what! Soon-to-be husbands can have just as much fun choosing their unique style, and giving THEIR twist on what their special day means to them. So we set out to find the best groom photos from our wedding photography community in 2012.
In the world of wedding photography, there is no shortage of fabulous engagement and wedding ring photos, because sometimes the coolest ones are shot making use of whatever props are available at the time. Many of these images, too, are planned, to incorporate a symbolic item that will forever reflect on the true romance of the union. Feathered hairpins, cocktail napkins, and candy rocks are among the few that made our list.
The very nature of weddings makes them emotional events. But among the sweet, happy, and even tearfully precious moments captured, weddings have their fair share of goofy ones too. And what kind of celebration is it, really, if you can’t let loose a little? We looked to our photographers to show us what “wedding whimsy” means to them, and what did we get? Sprinkles, Gangnam-style dancing, and a whole ‘lotta mustaches!
In the hustle and bustle of a wedding, it can be easy for the little things to slide by unnoticed. No one can miss a beautiful bride or fabulous signage. But what about all of the precious wedding moments happening within the event? What about those brief flashes of genuine emotion that are, after all, one of the most elemental parts of the day? A father’s expression as he dances with his daughter, an aunt crying tears of happiness at the ceremony, a groom’s face as he sees his bride for the first time in her wedding dress. Guests may catch fleeting glimpses of all of these things, but the bride and groom? As the center of attention, they might not get to witness the most touching moments.
With the increasing popularity of wedding blogs and the advent of Pinterest, it’s easier than ever for brides to find fun wedding ideas. As every bride is lovely and unique in her own way, it’s only expected that she would want her wedding to stand out from the rest as well. Depending on what theme a beautiful bride decides, from traditional to country chic, there are countless ways to add touches of individuality to this special event. One creative and effective way to do this is in the wedding signage.
Whether for the engagement session or the main event, beach wedding photos featuring sand and surf always have such a irresistibly magical quality about them. Maybe it’s the unique skies we see in the best of the beach wedding photos, with whimsical tufts of cotton candy-pink and burnt orange. Or perhaps its the way a couple can be captured in a sweet kiss that, in this heart-melting setting just screams romance, and the next moment caught playfully dashing through the sand.
