This week we are excited to showcase a romantic resort wedding that took place in Sri Lanka this past December between Celia and Matt. This stunning day was photographed by Benny Ottosson of OttosssonPhoto.
Benny shared with us some of his thoughts about the day:
“There are environments and there are environments. To photograph Celia and Matts wedding under the palms of the Indian Ocean was definitely an okay day at work!
The choice of location was a bit exciting. Celia is from Norway and Matt from Australia. In order for relatives and friends to get there, they chose a place in between. And it became Sri Lanka. Many relatives and friends showed up and made the day fantastic for the bride and groom. Celia and Matt felt very relaxed and Matt played tennis in the morning. Though he claimed it was to keep the nerves in order. They had chosen a fantastic resort, Frangipani Tree, which helped give the wedding a wonderful backdrop. And we learned that Australians know what a party is! ”
Here is what Celia and Matt had to say,
“We had an absolutely beautiful day. The most important thing for us was having fun and arranging a proper party. This was certainly the case and it was really good time on the dance floor all evening.
The very best moment, I think, was when the guests spontaneously decided to lift me and Matt up while they danced around us and cheered. The joy of all the guests was the best for us – and then it was also easy for us to relax and enjoy ourselves. We also liked that all remaining guests ended up in the pool when the DJ stopped playing after almost 2 hours in overtime. Another very nice memory was to walk down the aisle with friends and family around while uncles, aunts and siblings played and sang and we managed to just take in all the sounds and pleasures of the surroundings. It was really nice. Everything did not go quite as planned, but we did not expect it to be completely perfect either. We thought everything was solved in an incredibly nice way anyway, and was really impressed by our wedding planner.
What really did not go as planned was when we were to send up lanterns at the end of the evening. I’m generally very scared of fire and had them make sure they did not send them up if there was an incorrect wind direction and unsafe. But when we sent up the first lantern and it ended up in a palm tree in the hotel area, I was mildly afraid that we would burn down the entire hotel. Luckily, it went well and we tried again. At that time, the lantern ended up almost hitting my new mother-in-law who had to jump away! I tried to put an end to sending up more after that, but I heard rumors that more were sent while we were taking pictures, and one should also have landed on the roof of the tent we had set up. But everything went fine, fortunately, and we could continue the party.”
Thank you so much, Benny, for submitting these gorgeous romantic resort wedding photos with us! We absolutely love all the joy that surrounded this day and how it pours through in each photo. To see more of Benny’s work visit ottossonphoto.com or check out his SnapKnot profile.
