Sometimes things in life just do not go as planned. And sometimes it can rain on your parade (or your engagement session… literally)! Just because it may rain on your engagement photo day, or even your wedding for that matter, these photos of this rainy engagement session we want to show you today will prove that a little rain will not hurt anyone.
Jeff and Jessica were planning their engagement photos in a small town in Kansas and the weather ended up taking a turn for the worst complete with a full-blown thunderstorm and pouring rain! These amazing photos by Darryl with Salt and Pine Photography captured the beauty of the storm, and had such amazing ideas to just go with it and see what type of shots they could get… and boy are they amazing!
Here is what Darryl had to say about their rainy engagement session:
“The story behind Jessica and Jeff’s rainy engagement session is pretty simple; we forgot to double-check the weather. About half way to the small town of Kelly, Kansas, we noticed the thunderheads. We called Jessica and Jeff, and we all agreed to make the most of the weather, and cross our fingers that the rain would hold off. We made it to Jeff’s family’s dairy farm, and had a blast using their rope swing, and walking around in their fields. About the time we discovered a great spot near some hay bales, it started pouring!”
“We then all jumped back into the truck and headed back to the farmhouse, hoping an outfit change would give the rain enough time to stop. Luckily, it did! And we headed up the dirt road to an abandoned schoolhouse. Soon enough, though, a full blown thunderstorm was blowing our way. We drove halfway back to the farmhouse again, but we had a crazy idea and asked Jeff to stop their truck in the middle of the dirt road and get out. After Jessica and Jeff, I’m sure, exchanged some looks of “our photographers must be crazy”, they got out of the car and we sat them on the tailgate, in a downpour. It was well worth it! The rain, the truck, the dirt road – everything felt like it had come out of a romance novel! Jessica even told us she was glad they had a rainstorm instead of a sunset for their engagement session.”
If you are worried about rain during your engagement photos, these are perfect to show that even the rainiest of situations can make for some amazing photos!
