SnapKnot would like to welcome Faith Stone Photography to our list of London, United Kingdom photographers! Faith focuses on capturing natural wedding photos of her clients, always making sure they are comfortable in the poses. Get to know Faith a little closer:
1) Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi. I’m Faith with Faith Stone Photography. I’m an American photographer living and working in Essex, United Kingdom. I have an Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Applied Science degree from the Art Institute of Colorado. I’ve won several photography awards and am a member of the Master Photographer Association. I specialize in people, on location- weddings, portraits, baby bumps, and pets, to name a few. I’ve been in business for over a decade and enjoy building relationships with my clients so that I can best the most flattering images of them.
2) Why did you choose to become a photographer?
I studied art first, knowing that I wanted to be some kind of artist. I played around with photography for a while, then
decided it was exactly the art field I wanted to excel in.
3) How long have you been a photographer?
I got my AAS in 1999. I was working at the same time as I was studying for my degree.
4) How would you classify your style of photography?
I’d live to think my style is “fresh, not frozen!” I like classic poses with a modern twist. Often people say they like the
natural feel of my images and they don’t want to be posed. I always explain that those images are often posed, but in
a natural way.
5) Who or what are some of your influences on either a personal or professional level?
I was greatly influenced by many of my instructors at the Art Institute and by many artists in general. I don’t always look at other photographers, but choose to be inspired by art in general. My mom, of course, is my rock and I have to give my husband credit for being one of my biggest fans!
6) Do you have any good wedding stories?
Not really. Every one of the weddings I’ve done has gone rather smoothly!
7) What’s your preferred type of camera equipment?
I use Nikon equipment. Sometimes I get out my Hassleblad film camera and when I’m feeling creative, my Polaroid SX70!
8) What would you recommend for a couple just starting their search for a wedding photographer?
Find a style that suits your tastes and personality. Narrow down your choices by doing some research. Be sure to speak
to your final choices one to one. A wedding photographer, unlike other vendors, will be with you through the most
important parts of your day, so you want to feel confident and comfortable with them! Keep your expectations reasonable. There’s a reason why photographer’s prices vary so much. It comes down to style, experience, confidence and the ability to get the job done.
9) Any fun personal facts we should know about you?
I work from home, so I hang with my pets while I’m working. We often have conversations, as you do, and my husband
actually thinks I have some sort of ability to communicate with them on a level unlike anyone else. It’s probably true!
Anything else to add about yourself, the wedding industry, photography, brides, grooms, etc?
Finding the right wedding photographer is an ever challenging feat. With more and more people entering the field, it’s a
double edged sword. Couples have more choices now, which is great, but couples have more choices, which makes the
job harder! Don’t underestimate the value of your wedding images. It’s great if you can afford an expensive dress, but
what’s the point if you don’t have amazing memories of it? Get the very best photographer that you can afford!
I think it’s important to do a test run with your photographer before the big day. Contact me directly quoting SNAPKNOT
and I’ll give you a complimentary engagement session with any Wedding Collection booked!
