We are delighted to welcome Rodger Obley to our list of Pittsburgh wedding photographers! Rodger shot his first wedding fresh out of high school and has been photographing professionally now for five years! He classifies his style as “semi-journalistic”, as he prefers to let people “do their thing” with an element of his own creative technique.
“I love weddings because they present opportunities to meet so many new people and travel to exciting places. I have the best job on Earth.”
Rodger’s career began with a passion for nature and landscape photography, because as he says, “the world is so stinking awesome”. He quickly realized that he enjoyed having people in front his camera more than landscapes; connecting and talking with people is what he loves so much about his job, and landscape portraits don’t offer the same luxury.
Professionally, Rodger looks up to Sean Flannigan, Mike Colon, and Erik Clausen. On a more personal level, he is influenced by numerous friends and mentors that he considers himself blessed to have.
“When you’re picking a wedding photographer, you’re picking so much more than just a picture taker. You’re choosing the person that will document one of the happiest days of your life and who will most likely photograph your family and kids for years to come. Some of my clients have become legit friends.”
A few things you didn’t know about our Pennsylvania wedding photographer? He loves a lot of things. The list begins with coffee, his pet hedgehog, and his puppy. Rodger also loves Polaroids, The Office, Seinfeld, Ron Swanson, meeting new people, summer camps, and adventuring.
