Before you begin the endless amounts of planning for your big day, the first thing you must figure out is what type of theme you want your entire wedding to be based on. With so many different wedding themes to choose from, it is important to talk to your fiancé to figure out together which theme you want to go with.

Have you been dreaming since you were a little girl of having the perfect classic and traditional wedding complete with the beautiful church and all the traditions that go along with it? Maybe the fall is your favorite time of year and an outdoor, rustic shindig is the way you want to go. Do you love the simple look and want beautiful laces that look older? If so, a vintage them may be the way you want to go.

With so many wedding themes to choose from, we have listed out each theme below to give you an idea of what goes into the decor, style of dress, location and more.

Classic

A classic wedding is very traditional. It is the type of wedding that will not look dated even 50 years from now. The bride will have a beautiful white wedding gown, and the groom is black tux. The bridal party will be in matching floor-length gowns. Flowers are huge during a classic wedding and colors are pretty with silvers and golds can bring out a regal look, or pale pinks makes things a bit more romantic. Rustic

You can have a great rustic wedding in so many amazing locations. The rustic theme showcases a natural landscape and uses wood in multiple ways and incorporates pieces that could exists in your home or garden. Outdoor venues that would be perfect for a rustic wedding could be a garden, vineyard, or even a beautiful old barn. Using flowers that look like they could have just been plucked right out of a garden would be perfect. There is also so many great DIY ideas for decor that would be perfect for the rustic theme. Beach

If you love having your toes in the sand and the warm ocean breezes blowing through your hair, a beach themed wedding may be perfect for you! You can really do whatever you want with a beach wedding. Using greens, blues and whites will make it a more serene wedding, or you can brighten it up with colors like yellow and oranges. Decor for a beach theme can be anything from seashells and sand, to beach grass, or driftwood. Burlap bags are also a great addition and bring that beachy feel along with it. You can even bring the beach theme into your food choices by having seafood (but it may be good to have a “land” option for those who are not seafood fans)! Vintage

With a vintage themed wedding, lace is a must. Muted colors like ivory, rose, and gold makes things look very soft and so beautiful. You can even have decor such as vintage bottles, or hanging chandeliers with lots of pearls and and could get your cake decorated in an old fashioned way. Ethnic or Cultural

An ethic or multicultural themed wedding is all about embracing your culture, traditions and beautiful colors. Ethnic weddings typically include rich fabrics, beautiful and fashion from the culture and a lot of jewelry. We always love the jewelry! The decor that is used will be authentic to the culture being represented in that wedding. Some ethnic weddings also have dancing or music that can perform songs or performances that are a part of the heritage.

Modern

A modern wedding can have lots of black and white, with pops of color or stripes and dots, are so modern. A modern bride may not just have a white wedding gown, they may include a sash or bow in another color, or even a knockout gown in a different color. Baby’s breath is a great (and romantic) flower that is perfect to include in your modern wedding. Contemporary decor is also perfect for a modern wedding.
