1) Tell us a bit about yourself?
Hello My name is Eric Estrada and I am the owner and lead photographer at Eric Estrada Photography. I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area and currently reside in Covina California. I have been in public service working as an Emergency Medical Technician for about 15 years for a private ambulance company serving San Berandino County in California. Public Service was my first love in life and opened my eyes to another world however towards the end i became very tired of always seen the hardships of people with a very small handful of happy times to counter act the bad. I suffered an injury on the job that put me off duty for a little over a year and in that time span I took the opportunity to follow another love in life, besides my wife, and that is Photography.
2) Why did you choose to become a photographer?
Well at first I simply wanted to be able to take better pictures of my family and make sure they weren’t blurry and as I started to attend classes to understand what I was doing I realized that photographing people in their special moment celebrating one of the most important days in their life had brought a feeling of joy with an emotional capture of my heart. At that point is when I decided that being able to capture these moments whether posed or not was my new passion.
3) How Long have you been a photographer?
I have been a Photographer for the last 2 years and haven’t looked back, I am enjoying every minute I have capturing moments in time that can only be brought back to life through a photograph.
4)How would you classify your style of photography?
My style of photography is simple, I have fun and I like to be creative and try new things. I shoot from a photojournalist view but at the same time I like to pose the bride and groom to create a moment that shows the beauty of their love.
5) Who or what are some of your influences on either a personal or Professional level?
Some influences for me on a professional level are Joe Buissink who takes a simplistic approach to photography, although he photographs a lot of celebrities following his work has driven me to try new and different concepts. On a personal level my inspiration is very simple, my Parents who have been married for almost 35 years and have raised me to be the best that i can in whatever I do. They have provided me a model to follow when it comes to compromise and respect.
6) Do you have any good wedding stories?
Haha well as a male photographer (remember males are not supposed to do this) I was privileged to photograph a friends wedding and while during the ceremony I am doing my job but at the exchange of vows I was brought to tears and so very happy for my friend. Now keep in mind she was a family friend of 25 years so it was a special moment for all involved I just had to remember to keep shooting.
7) What is your preferred type of camera equipment?
I have always enjoyed the Nikon products so I use a Nikon camera, I like the quality of image that it provides. I love the 85mm prime lens and rent the 24-70 mm zoom lens quite a bit, I hope to purchase these along with some others in the future until then I’ll just rent them.
8) What would you recommend for a couple just starting out their search for a wedding photographer?
BOOK WITH ME….HaHa but really shop around see what you are being offered and make sure that you are comfortable and feel at ease with whom ever you decide on.
9) Any fun personal facts we should know about you ?
Well I like to have fun and I feed off my client depending how open they are, if not so open I just try harder to bring out a natural smile and look. I am also a bit clumsy so I pay a little more close attention to where I am walking so I don’t trip over my own feet.
