Today we want to showcase this gorgeous gold colored wedding that took place at Aria in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The venue is simply stunning with its original brick walls, cavernous ceilings, beautiful chandeliers, amazing artwork and furniture that fits in perfectly with the ambiance, it was such a perfect location for this bride and groom, Steve and Jodi!
Ashley with Yantes Photo had the opportunity to photograph this couple during their late spring wedding.
Here is a bit of what Jodi had to say about planning their beautiful gold colored wedding.
“Steve and I got engaged in April of 2013. While, initially I didn’t want a long engagement, we came to the conclusion that June 13, 2014 would be the day. Friday the thirteenth! In the end, we were so glad our Minnesota wedding wasn’t any earlier in one of our long winters and it was nice to have 14 months of planning. I am not the bride that had my entire wedding planned out from the time I was a little girl, so lots of decisions needed to be made and it was fun to see how it all fell into place. One thing we knew for sure was that we wanted our wedding to take place in the city of Minneapolis and I knew I wanted a lofty, urban feel. After touring one event space that was in the realm we were going for, but not quite big enough, we ended up at Aria and it was perfect! It was wide and open and all of the exposed brick and rafters was exactly the urban charm we were going for. The space is such a great blank canvas to create whatever kind of event fits your style, yet you don’t need to over-decorate as it has so much to offer on its own. After the venue and date were nailed down, we started working on the details and securing our other vendors. Lots of decisions!”
“Food is really important to us, so we looked at all Aria’s preferred caterers before landing on Create. Their style of food fit what we were going for perfectly – delicious with some unique flavors and not your standard wedding fare. I knew I wanted ice cream for dessert instead of cake, so luckily they coordinated an ice cream bar with Izzy’s, a local ice cream shop.
Next it was time to focus on invitations and decor. I was lucky enough to be referred to Font Love for my save-the-dates and invitations. Elana at Font Love really listened to my vision when coming up with the designs and was willing to make any tweaks I wanted to end up with the perfect invitation suite. I decided to hand address all of my envelopes, and it ended up being a fun way I could make my mark on the invites.
I am really fortunate that were able to work with such great vendors. My step-sister, Elizabeth Cronin, owns Asrai Garden, a flower shop in Chicago. From the beginning, she was willing to help me – including creating the flowers in Chicago and driving them to Minneapolis! I told her what I was going for and let her carry out her vision. It included lots of gold!
Ashley and Troy Yantes of Yantes Photography really did a great job of capturing the excitement of the day, while not being intrusive. Our photos were beautiful. Jennae Saltzman of Blush & Whim handled all of the day-of details and coordinating so I could have a stress-free day.”
“Once all of the invitations and flowers were taken care of, and the remaining vendors were booked, I focused on the little details working on hand lettering chalkboards for program information and table numbers, putting together favors, and selecting and writing place cards. At the time, I was a little stressed about the details, but overall it was really fun. The end result was beyond my wildest imagination. Everything came together so nicely and it really was the best day of our lives! We say all of the time we wish we could do it again.”
