We are delighted to welcome Warren McCormack to our list of Cary, North Carolina wedding photographers. Warren is originally from England, where he studied art, art history, and film photography. He moved to the US and created his photography studio 7 years ago; a business that has been growing non-stop ever since! Warren uses his contemporary shooting style to take modern, high-fashion wedding photos.
“It is my goal to ensure that they are more than happy with the quality of images and the services we provide. Change is a good thing, because it means a business is adapting to new needs and the economic environment it operates within. We are always looking to see if there are things we need to adapt to and improve on.”
Warren also has a love of the arts, movies, and magazine advertising images. He wants to bring what he learns from these influences and give his clients the images they never even thought of.
Warren chose to become a photographer because he considers himself a “die hard” when it comes to film photography, and now with digital; being able to capture, review, and even edit on the fly is incredible to him. Warren’s fascination began with the masters, though, and by understanding composition, color, texture, and applying those principles to modern photography.
He still has a love for medium format film and will probably always use it from time to time.
“I love to watch them and get caught up by the whole process. The visual and audio, tied in with a great story. I find myself looking at the chosen composition, the lighting, and the angles.”
He has spent the past 5 years attending workshops around North America, including classes once a year at WPPI.
“It’s an opportunity to learn from others in this amazing industry from various countries. Different view points, both with business matters, image capturing, and image editing. You can never learn enough!”
Warren has quite the wedding story. For one particular event, he traveled to the beaches of the East Coast for a destination wedding. He was concerned for the couple and their beach wedding the night before as he drove through heavy rain. Sure enough, the rain persisted through the next morning. He met with the couple before the ceremony and they were quite upset about the weather. The groom was actually in tears, as he wanted so badly for his new wife to have her dream beach wedding.
Low and behold, the rain ceased right before the ceremony and a rainbow appeared over the ocean. Hows that for a positive omen!
Decide on a few things before you start your search:
- Style of photography
- Fully guided/posed or completely free/photojournalism
- A budget and a priority in terms of entire wedding budget
- Go to a few bridal shows and ask questions.
- Draw up a small handful of photographers and go meet with them.
- Never book a photographer if you haven’t met with them.
- Keep an open mind on your budget; every studio is different, offering different products and services.
- Make sure you feel comfortable with and connect with your photographer.
“The pull between technology interests and art has always been a curious thing for me over the years.”
