A huge SnapKnot welcome to our newest photographer in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area! Get to know Russ Climie of Tiberius Images a little closer! This husband-wife team ensures that no memory or moment of that special day is forgotten through documentary wedding photos!

1) Tell us a bit about yourself.
We are a husband and wife photography team based in Grand Rapids, MI. We love weddings and feel blessed to get paid to spend time with happy people on the best day of their lives. We are former Michigan State Spartans who’ve traveled around the world and have chosen our home based to be West Michigan.

2) Why did you choose to become a photographer?
TI-Rewind to 2003.  In order to complete our degrees, my wife and I spent 6 months living abroad.  In Europe I met my match: the Camera!  Seeing just a small portion of the beauty that makes up our world is indescribable and life changing.  We returned in 2004.  I found a photography mentor and spent an entire year developing technical skills under his amazing instruction.  Tiberius Images was born.  Now, in combination with my wife and 2 associate photographers, we specialize in weddings and business events.  Capturing photographs of the most important moments for our clients, is like archiving their personal stories.  Tiberius Images ensures that memories and moments will never be forgotten.

3) How long have you been a photographer?
Now just over 8 years as a full time professional, with 1 year prior as a photo assistant.

4) How would you classify your style of photography?
Documentary and photojournalistic. I began as a political photographer where nothing was under my control. I learned to be in the right spot at the right time. As a wedding photographer we try to use the same approach, but with the great couples we work with, there is slightly more flexibility if we want to try something different.

5) Who or what are some of your influences on either a personal or professional level?
Our families are a huge influence on us. We spend tons of time with our parents, siblings and nieces and nephews. Photographing the kids is always a blast! In addition, we have had many amazing mentors in the areas of our marriage and our faith. Having mentors in our lives has truly been one of the secrets to any success we’ve had.

6) Do you have any good wedding stories?
While downtown Grand Rapids with a couple, we told the groom to “pick up his bride and swing her around”.  His response… “I don’t know if you know this, but I am a former Olympic hammer thrower.  Do you want me to really swing her? ”

7) What’s your preferred type of camera equipment?
We shoot with Canon equipment. Nothing wrong with other brands, but we’ve been brought up on it and love how it performs.

8) What would you recommend for a couple just starting their search for a wedding photographer?
Make sure you like the person you’re hiring and that they have the same values you do. In a day and age where you can look at 100 photographers in a day, a personal relationship and connection is key. If you have fun with them meeting face to face, chances are you’re going to have fun with them on your wedding day. We like to see ourselves as both a wedding photography coach and cheerleader. We can help direct the day as needed, but when you’re having a great time, we love to simply cheer you on!

9) Any fun personal facts we should know about you?
We are crazy about marriage! Our favorites books include: The Five Love Languages, The Five Languages of Apology and DNA of Relationships. We also love trying new things. A list of our out of ordinary experiences include: sky diving, mountain horse back riding, hang gliding, helicopter rides, Nascar driving, dog sledding and flight lessons.  Just to name a few.
