This is the first in our awesome wedding venues series. Virginia is a beautiful area, and offers mountains, beaches, and so much more! Today we are going to focus on the Commonwealth and a few wonderful options throughout. The Chateau Morrisette Winery, which is located in the Floyd, Virginia countryside is a stunning location for a wedding. Whether you are looking for a grand affair or an intimate ceremony, the location is in one of the most beautiful settings of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With an impressive backdrop of its timber frame winery building, the gardens and courtyard, make for a beautiful outdoor space to say “I do!” You can also have your event on the winery lawn with beautiful views overlooking the vineyards. There are amazing indoor and tented options for your ceremony and reception as well.
Laura with Laura Tomlinson Photography had the opportunity to photography a lovely wedding at Chateau Morrisette Winery between Anthony and Courtney. Here is what she had to say about the couple.
“I cannot use any word but amazing when it comes to describing Anthony & Courtney’s love for each other and their wedding day. These two came up with a super fun, loving and beautiful event to share with their family and I am so proud to have been a part of it. Anthony & Courtney have been together for almost 10 years total but this love story started way back in elementary school when they first met in kindergarten. YES, KINDERGARTEN! They are adventure lovers who got engaged on a mountain top. A perfect spot for hiking enthusiast Anthony (who hiked the Appalachian Trail… the whole thing, a few years back) to ask this sweet girl to be his wife.”
“I overheard someone say at the wedding that Courtney had been talking about getting married at Chateau Morrisette since she was a little girl. Boy am I glad she did! We made it to a gorgeous winery in the Floyd, Virginia countryside, Chateau Morrisette with enough time to spare to grab some lunch at their wonderful restaurant. I highly recommend it! After we gorged ourselves on the delicate fare, we went over to the main building to meet with our beautiful bride. She allowed us to steal her dress and wander the grounds looking for some good spots to hang it. I’m so glad she trusts me! Aren’t these little details just perfect? As a dog lover, the paw prints and woof woof on the corks and barrels get me every time! The ceremony was gorgeous underneath a tree overlooking the valley and the main building of Chateau Morrisette. Not even I had a dry eye – such a sweet sweet ceremony. These high school sweethearts FINALLY said I do! After all the portraits, the party started!! Good wine, crazy dancing & lots of love surrounded this beautiful couple. I believe the dancing was some of my favorite pictures. People were really cutting loose, even the Mother of the Bride! She was really getting into it. A sparkler exit was the perfect ending to a wonderful day.”
