We are delighted to introduce Marc Sadowski of Sadowski Photography. This recent addition to our list of Boston wedding photographers covers mostly the New England area, but loves shooting everything from the traditional to exotic destination weddings. There is something that captures his heart about candid wedding photography, and thus considers his style influenced by the photojournalistic approach.
“Call it photo journalism, call it candid photography. Call it whatever, but I absolutely love the candid approach. Being able to photograph family and friends in the midst of a joyous moment is the best feeling. I love every moment of it!”
Marc used to believe he would become a world-famous writer. As fate would have it, his first job as a reporter for his local newspaper taught him photojournalism and since that day he has been hooked on photography.
“The visual world just awoke in me and I haven’t been able to turn away since.”
He has been a photographer since 1995 in some form or another, but has been shooting wedding and events for about 8 years.
Who inspires our fun photographer? The people he admires the most, interestingly enough, are not other photographers. Marc looks up to people that have an entrepreneurial spirit; the ones who have made a living out of their passion.
“We live in a world where that spirit is thriving. It is both scary and exciting.”
One of Marc’s favorite weddings was one that he shot not with his professional gear, but with his iPhone. A bride in Connecticut wanted her wedding day to be photographed with the iPhone’s Hipstamatic app. Marc and his friend (who is a portrait and sports photographer) took on that challenge. (They were featured on PetaPixel because of it!)
“It was amazing! To use your iPhone as though it were a DSLR and cover a wedding event was a challenge. We quickly discovered the iPhone’s limitations and forced use to be very creative on the spot. As far as I know, we are the only ones in the world that covered a wedding from start to finish with Hipstamatic. It was a thrill and adventure, and we became great friends with the bride and groom as a result. And the photos? They came out awesome! Those are the bride and groom’s words, not mine.”
“Look for difficult shots where it’s very bright in the background yet the foreground is lit perfectly. Look for the indoor conditions. If you see a photographer that can handle all those shots where your point and shoot or smart phone would struggle, then that photographer is a keeper. They know their light and they know their craft!”
Overall Marc is just a down-to-earth guy that loves his job. He enjoys everything about wedding photography. “It’s funny,” he says. “Because for the longest time people warned me to stay away from that kind of work because of the pressure involved.”
However, his style of photography fits so well with weddings that he loves having the privilege to capture the moments of a tremendous party! He also loves the travel. Whether it is heading to the white mountains for an outdoor wedding or Lake Champlain in Vermont, he loves even just the drive to the event!
